WASHINGTON, MI — Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan’s Agent Charitable Fund on Friday donated $10,000 to help Samaritan House, a community service organization in Washington, Michigan, provide food for their community.
The donation to Samaritan House was chosen by the winner of a reverse raffle from the Agent Charitable Fund, who was able to designate $10,000 to the hunger-relief charity of their choice.
“I chose Samaritan House to receive this donation because I was familiar with them when my family lived in the Washington area, and I know they help the local community,” said Jessica Masinick, winner of the Agent Charitable Fund reverse raffle.
“Samaritan House is grateful and humbled that we were chosen to receive this donation,” said Kathy Wojcik, Samaritan House executive director. “This generous donation will allow us to stock our pantry for about a month and a half with fresh meat, dairy and produce.”
Samaritan House is operated by 16 Christian churches in the Romeo, Washington, Bruce, Ray, Armada, Macomb, Shelby Township and Utica areas of northwestern Macomb County.
The Agent Charitable Fund, whose mission is to end hunger in Michigan, is a donor-designated fund administered through the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture. The Michigan Foundation for Agriculture, a 501(c)(3) governed by Michigan Farm Bureaus board of directors, positively contributes to the future of Michigan agriculture through leadership and educational programming.
Through grant programs and donations, Farm Bureau agents, clients and partners provide food and educational programs to Michigan residents struggling with hunger and aid the more than 3,000 hunger-relief agencies throughout the state.
