Optional Auto Coverages for Michigan Drivers

There are multiple optional coverages to extend your safety net in addition to the mandatory coverages required by the state of Michigan.  Learn more about these coverages and talk to your agent to find ones that suit your unique situation.

Collision Coverage 

Pays for damage to your vehicle if it rolls over or collides with something. Collision coverage is available in 3 forms:

 -Regular - pays for damage to your vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. You always pay the deductible.

 -Broad - pays for damage to your vehicle regardless of who is at fault, but if you are more than 50% at fault you pay the deductible.

 -Limited - pays for damage to your vehicles only if you were no more than 50% at fault.

Comprehensive Coverage 
Pays for damage to your vehicle resulting from causes other than Collision like fire, theft, or storm damage.

Uninsured Motorist 
Pays what you are legally entitled to collect for injuries caused by an uninsured driver and covers lost wages if you are unable to work due to injury.

Underinsured Motorist 
Pays the difference when an underinsured driver doesn’t have enough insurance to cover what you are legally entitled to collect for injuries and covers lost wages if you are unable to work due to injury.

Road Service 

Pays for aid when your car is disabled.

Auto Rental Reimbursement 
Pays for a substitute rental vehicle when the original auto is unusable because of a covered physical damage loss (Comprehensive or Collision).
-Repairs to original auto must exceed $250.
-Coverage provides maximum of $30/day for a maximum of 30 days.

Replacement Costs 
Pays for the cost of a new auto, pickup, or van of the same make and model and with similar equipment as the damaged vehicle.
-This option is only available to the original owner of vehicles that are less than 3 model years old.
-Losses caused by fire, theft or larceny, or malicious mischief or vandalism will be settled at actual cash value.

Travel Interruption 
Provides an expense allowance up to $600 after a Comprehensive or Collision loss that is more than 100 miles from your home. The allowance can be used for commercial or public transportation, lodging and meals.
