Looking to get the latest expert advice on manure safety, management, spill prevention — and more — all in one place?

You’re in luck.

Registration is now open for the Michigan Manure Management Summit, set for Jan. 31, 2024 at the AgroLiquid Conference Center in St. Johns. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing together experts from across the industry to talk on a wide array of topics.

A detailed agenda is available here

“We designed the Summit to be worthwhile for anyone who hauls or applies manure — whether you’re a farmer or do custom manure application,” said Tess Van Gorder, Michigan Farm Bureau’s conservation and regulatory relations specialist.

“Our speakers will cover everything from the latest tech innovations, to Right to Farm considerations, employee training, engaging with the public, and much more.”

Sponsors for the event include Dairy Farmers of America, Farm Bureau Insurance, Hutson, Inc., Marloo Equipment, and Blue Wing Consulting.

Presented in partnership by the MFB Family of Companies and MSU Extension, the summit is part of the Michigan Manure Hauler Certification Program. Launched in 2020, the Michigan Manure Hauler Certification Program creates a pathway for farms and manure applicators to move from training to certification, to third party audit — incentivized by insurance premium reductions— without implementing a mandatory program.

Van Gorder noted that the goal of the voluntary program is to help reduce the risk of spill on the road and in the field, and participants can start the certification program for free if they register and attend the summit. Existing Level 2 certified haulers will also earn continuing education credits for Level 2 of the program.

Registration pricing has been updated this year as follows:

Commercial manure applicator/farm

  • $50 for one individual
  • $25 for two or more people registering at a time

Non-commercial manure applicator/farm

  • $100 for one individual
  • $75 for two or more people registering at a time

Click here to register and please note that registration closes Jan. 24.
