Fill buckets & pails for local students

As high school and college students transition into summer and onto their life’s next journey, your county Farm Bureau has the unique opportunity to fill their bucket — literally.

In Have You Filled a Bucket Today, author Carol McCloud challenges her readers to “Try to fill a bucket and see what happens.

“All day long, we are either filling up or dipping into each other’s buckets by what we say and what we do,” she writes.

As high school and college students transition into summer and onto their life’s next journey, your county Farm Bureau has the unique opportunity to fill their bucket — literally. By purchasing a Farm Bureau pail — same as a bucket! — from the Michigan Ag in the Classroom online store, you have a chance to connect with these students and show them how Farm Bureau supports them.

Here are five ways to fill the buckets and connect with students over the summer months:

  • Pails make great graduation gifts when attending open houses.
  • Fill buckets with wash supplies and donate to all the livestock barns at your county fair.
  • Hold a fishing tournament and supply each youth participant with a pail full of fishing gear.
  • Donate s’more goodness to the 4-H overnight camp as you fill several buckets of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for participants to enjoy.
  • Hosting a summer movie night? Fill pails with bags of popcorn and drinks to give to all high school and college students who come to watch the show!

Have an idea you want to share with other counties? Send a photo and description to MFB High School & Collegiate Programs Specialist Katie Eisenberger so we can highlight how your county is filling a student’s bucket!
