2024 Young Farmer Leaders Conference in the Thumb

Last time Port Huron hosted a Farm Bureau conference, one of the tour stops was Theisen’s Greenhouse near Memphis, where Joe Theisen raises tens of thousands of annuals for markets across metro Detroit.

Port Huron welcomes the next generation of Michigan agriculture to town Feb. 23-25 for the 2024 Young Farmer Leaders Conference

Open to regular and Collegiate Farm Bureau members ages 18-35, Young Farmer Leaders Conference attendees will participate in tours, networking, breakout sessions — then return home with new ideas and resources to incorporate into their county programming, business and relationships.

The agenda kicks off Friday with tours and — new this year — small-group experiences.

Three traditional tours will feature stops like the Blue Water Bridge border port and innovative farm operations, while three experience options will give members the opportunity to learn new skills and get their hands dirty through service projects. Lastly, members can use the time to shop and stroll the downtown Port Huron area.

The following day will be filled with district networking, 15 engaging breakout options, a live auction benefiting the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture and an evening keynote speaker: Randy Grieser on intentional leadership.

Drawing from his books The Ordinary Leader and Don’t Blame the Lettuce, Grieser will challenge our ambitious Young Farmers to think critically about their approach to leadership, and help develop unique insights to strengthen their leadership game.

Dinner Saturday will be followed by a night of team trivia so members can test their obscure knowledge before the conference wraps up with in-depth workshops on Sunday morning.

Registration opens Jan. 3-12, so contact your county Farm Bureau to reserve your spot for the 2024 Young Farmer Leaders Conference.
