What to do with those Pail Program leftovers

Date Posted: September 16, 2021

Does your county Farm Bureau have leftover MFB-branded, 5-gallon buckets left over from the cost-share Pail Program? Here are five ways your county could get them in the hands of high school and collegiate students and programs this fall:

  1. 4-H Awards — Reach out to your county’s MSU Extension office to find out when your 4-H fall awards banquet is scheduled, and be there to present buckets to each project award winner.
  2. Back to School — Fill the pail with school supplies and drop one off to each high school agriscience or science teacher in your county.
  3. Hunting BUCKet — Host a virtual buck pole for youth by inviting them to share photos their buck photos on your county Farm Bureau’s Facebook page. Give away buckets full of hunting supplies to the winners in each age group.
  4. Fall Harvest — Collect snacks, drinks and make brown-bag meals for delivery to local farm crews by your 4-H and FFA members during harvest.
  5. Halloween Candy Bags — Hosting or participating in a Trunk-or-Treat? Display your candy in pails or give them away as candy bags!

Bonus idea: At upcoming county Farm Bureau events, give buckets to youth volunteers who worked as Project RED group leaders, FARM Science Lab volunteers, county annual pledge leaders or parking help!
