Sponsored Honor Flight for Farm Bureau member-veterans back on for Sept. 18

Date Posted: July 29, 2021

Scrubbed in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MFB-sponsored Honor Flight for member veterans of WWII and Korea, originally scheduled for May 2020, is back on the calendar — and right around the corner!

With COVID precautions subsiding nationwide, Honor Flight is resuming its mission of honoring America’s bravest generations, with its next flight — Sept. 18 — likely being filled with Michigan Farm Bureau members who served in World War II and Korea.

Representatives from Talons Out Honor Flight, the Kalamazoo-based chapter of the national Honor Flight organization, are contacting the 16 veteran-guardian pairs from a dozen counties who were poised to take part in the original flight last year.

Those individuals should expect a call from an Honor Flight volunteer soon to confirm their continued interest and that they are (or will be) fully vaccinated against COVID in time to fly come mid-September.

Since the pandemic grounded all Honor Flights after March 2020, the event has been on hold until it was safe and feasible to fill a plane with veterans and escort those heroes on a tour of war memorials, monuments and Arlington National Cemetery in the nation’s capital.
