After more than 30 years of dedication to both the Dundee and Milan FFA chapters, retired advisor Tom Stahl was recognized by the Monroe County Farm Bureau for his leadership and guidance to generations of local young people.

FFA provides members with a unique opportunity to learn lifelong skills and explore careers in agriculture. At the Dundee FFA’s March 22 awards banquet, Stahl was honored by chapter members and the Monroe County Farm Bureau.

County Farm Bureau President Roger Bezek remarked on the valuable contribution of Stahl’s leadership and his eagerness to keep both FFA chapters active, fostering a high level of achievement for all his students.

Stahl received a plaque and the FFA chapter was given a large sign honoring his contributions over the years. It was noted that while the plaque was for “Tom Stahl the man,” the large barn sign was meant to remind all future FFA members of the long history of guidance he contributed to local young people.

As the average age of American farmers pushes into the late 50s, the need for hands-on education and exposure to the industry’s many opportunities is paramount. FFA provides programs to grow students personally and gain proficiency in skills they’ll use through their lives.

Without the dedication of people like Tom Stahl,” Bezek said, giving his time and experience, and creating a welcoming and valuable learning experience for our young people, we would all lose the potential of the young people Mr. Stahl has impacted.”
