Engage at Any Age: Connect with FFA students this winter

Forging meaningful relationships with local high school students emphasizes your county Farm Bureau’s commitment to the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Here are some great ways for your members to ‘engage at any age’ with FFA students over the next couple months:

• National FFA Week, Feb. 18-25, embraces more than 95 years of FFA tradition while looking toward the organization’s future. Reach out to your local FFA Advisor and spotlight their members on social media. Sponsor lunch for an upcoming chapter meeting and share scholarship opportunities with FFA members. Encourage your county Farm Bureau members to share photos of themselves five, 10, 20 years ago in their blue and gold jackets. Find out who is the oldest FFA alum member in your county!
• Leadership contest season is here, with FFA chapters competing at the district, regional and state levels in February and March. Advisors will be looking for community members to:
  • Offer resources and content for contest speeches,
  • Attend a critique night,
  • Host contest teams during county meetings to practice,
  • Serve as a judge, timekeeper or chaperone.
• March is Reading Month! If your county is lining up guest speakers to read ag-accurate books in elementary classrooms, ask an FFA member to participate! To earn any FFA degree, students must earn community service points, so it’s a win-win!
