Shiawassee County Farm Bureau’s membership committee hosted its annual barn dance March 12, bringing together more than 200 members at Stone House Farm near Bancroft.

Guests this year were treated to an amazing meal catered by Brenda Hart, featuring a variety of home-cooked dishes and what seemed like a dozen different dessert options.

Music was provided by Benjamin Butcher, last year’s Michigan Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet Winner and a top-four finalist at the national Farm Bureau event!

Before dinner, Shiawassee County Farm Bureau President Timothy Kiesling presented Butcher with a Carhartt jacket as a reminder of our appreciation for all the hard work he’s put in!

Our Barn Dance was also a great event for families. Children enjoyed games and an indoor corn box in which they could mill around just like their favorite sand box on the farm.

The night wrapped up with friends and families on the dance floor, showing off their moves and doing their best versions of popular dances.

Joel Leland is Shiawassee County Farm Bureau’s membership captain.
