2023 sees return of Washington Legislative Seminar

Shelved by Covid since March 2020, MFB's Washington Legislative Seminar is a marquee event putting our grass-roots members face-to-face with their members of Congress, right there in the nation's capital.
Date Posted: December 28, 2022

The Washington Legislative Seminar (WLS) is back in 2023! For the first time since March of 2020, Michigan Farm Bureau is able to take members from across the state back to our nation’s capital to learn about national issues impacting agriculture, meet with their member of congress and hear from Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters.

During the seminar, March 21-23, members will take a deep dive into the 2023 Farm Bill, international trade, and agricultural chemistry issues. Attendees will hear from a lineup of American Farm Bureau Federation staff and industry experts on these issues before going to Capitol Hill to discuss what they’ve learned while telling their own stories to their member of Congress.

Having Michigan farmers inside the Beltway, sharing their stories with Congressmen and -women first-hand makes a huge impact and shows the commitment of our farmers to the success of Michigan agriculture.

Members taking part in the 2023 WLS will also have time to take in some of the city’s many historical sites. MFB arranges for a Monuments by Moonlight tour, tour of the U.S. Capitol, and dinner with other Michigan members at some fantastic restaurants in downtown D.C.

Registration for the 2023 WLS is open Jan. 9-20; contact your county Farm Bureau today to inquire about attending.
