2021 #SpeakAgMichigan Challenge returns

Date Posted: September 2, 2021

High School FFA Chapters and Collegiate Farm Bureau members are encouraged to participate in the 2021 #SpeakAgMichigan Challenge, where you can engage with consumers, develop advocacy skills and win money for your chapter.

Students will develop and implement a four-month social media challenge highlighting designated commodities each month on social media, in alignment with Michigan Farm Bureau’s FARM Crate program. Beyond that, each month will also look at a new, recurring theme: insects!

The #SpeakAgMichigan Challenge encourages high school and collegiate students to effectively communicate while advocating for agriculture on either their chapter’s Facebook or Instagram (high school) or their personal accounts (collegiate).

Each month has one commodity share graphic provided by Michigan Farm Bureau to post onto your social media platform. The other five posts must be selected from the 10 challenge options specific to the month/commodity. Commodities include:

  • September: Apples
  • October: Pumpkins
  • November: Turkeys
  • December: Christmas Trees
  • Monthly: Insects

Cash awards will be awarded to the top 10 high school FFA chapters and to the top three Collegiate members. Each Collegiate member’s chapter will also receive a cash award to be used towards upcoming chapter programming. Winning members and chapters will be recognized during the Collegiate Pre-Conference Event at Growing Together 2022.
